The Research Center for Critical Issues (RCCI) hosted a one-day “Interdisciplinary Student Experience Camp- Open Lab” on September 1st. The program featured special lectures, laboratory tours, and group interactions. Below are activity highlights from the “Taiwan Marine Observatory System (Tai-MOS) Core Facility,” which provided students with opportunities for interaction with researchers and hands-on experimental operations.
▲ Introduction to Tai-MOS and Marine Research Resources: Project assistants introduced the Tai-MOS platform and demonstrated the center’s various digital and marine research resources.
▼ Organic Carbon Sampling and Analysis: Laboratory staffs presented the offshore sampling methodologies used for particulate organic carbon (POC) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC), followed by an overview of the principles behind their instrumental analysis.
▼ Inorganic Nutrient Experiments: Laboratory staffs explained the scientific principles behind inorganic nutrient analysis and demonstrated the laboratory procedures before inviting students to gain hands-on experience.
